UTEP Basketball Coach Tim Floyd talked with KDBC's Fred Albers Tuesday afternoon by telephone. What follows are portions of that conversation.
Albers: What's your status Coach?
Floyd: Fred, I want to make one thing very clear. I was not offered the job and never said I would accept the job. I talked with USC people because it was very important to me that the Los Angeles media and national media understood USC has no problem with me or with the program while I was there. That's extremely important for my players and everyone to know there were no problems during my stay at USC.
Albers: Are you a candidate for the job?
Floyd: We talked about a lot of things with the USC program. Again, I wasn't offered the job and never said I would accept the job.
Albers: But are you a candidate?
Floyd: You can't be a candidate if you are not offered the job.
Albers: Have you talked with recruits? Have you talked with Isaac Hamilton?
Floyd: I have talked with Isaac and he is absolutely fine with everything. Fred, my one focus this week is beating Memphis. I'll talk with you after the game.
