EL PASO — Sheriff's deputies responded to a multi-vehicle collision Thursday morning to find a TXDOT transport truck had collided with a transport auto carrier.
The driver of the TXDOT vehicle was pinned inside the truck, officials said, and required the jaws of life. He was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
Investigators said the TXDOT employee was traveling westbound on I-10 when it veered into the median, went airborne and collided into a the tractor of an auto carrier that was parked on the right shoulder of IH-10 east. The tractor was not occupied but impact caused several loaded vehicles to shift and received damage.
I-10 East was reduced to one lane of traffic approximately 500 yards east from the Clint Overpass. The investigation continues.
