El Paso police officers working on assignment, run into a wanted felon and arrest him, police said.
According to police, officers were working on a special assignment called "Stone Garden" when officers saw Alphonse Cannon, 30.
Cannon had an oustanding criminal warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, police said.
Officers identified themselves as police officers and Cannon started to run on the 8900 block of Lawson in Northeast El Paso, police said.
After a short chase, officers were able to place Cannon into custody. He was also charged with evading arrest or detention, police said.
Cannon was booked into the El Paso County Jail under a total bond of $50,750.00.
