EL PASO — What's yellow, gray and 'green' all over?
The city of El Paso released renderings of Artspace, an ongoing project aiming to provide affordable artist housing in downtown El Paso. Sustainability practices and a green approach are at the core of this modern architecture, with a mission to "create, foster, and preserve affordable space for artists and arts organizations."
The building aims at providing a downtown hub to encourage a thriving art scene in El Paso. The affordable apartments/studios would include public spaces for income-qualified artists to work, show, sell, perform, and generally support the arts, according to the Artspace website.
The project is a work in progress, backed by volunteer organizations and the City of El Paso's Planning and Economic Department. To support, learn more or participate, visit their website here: http://www.artspaceelpaso.org [2]
