EL PASO — Emergency dispatch confirmed Thursday just after 6 p.m. that an officer was hit by a vehicle while responding to an accident on I-10 East and Brown.
Traffic officials shut down the highway and began diverting traffic at the downtown exit, causing heavy backup.
Emergency officials reported that the officer was taken to a nearby hospital and only suffered minor injuries.
