EL PASO — El Paso firefighters responded to a fire at a vacant apartment in Central El Paso.
The fire started shortly before 2:00 a.m. Saturday on Myrtle Ave. near Cotton.
According to George DeLaTorre, Spokesman for the El Paso Fire Department, witnesses called 9-1-1 after seeing smoke pouring out of the single-story building.
Fire investigators said the blaze started in the front living room of the apartment, and also spread to another nearby apartment with a family of four inside. Two nearby businesses, Goldie’s Bar and El Zahuan Restaurant, also sustained smoke damage.
No injuries were reported.
Damages are estimated at $20,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
