For those of you that tweet, it wasn't you're imagination, those Instagram photo images really went dark on Sunday.
Instagram yanked that feature, no longer allowing photos to appear in Twitter feeds. An Instagram spokesperson confirmed yesterday that the feature had been pulled and that there were no plans to re-enable it.
Twitter says the decision was made by Instagram, which was acquired earlier this year by Facebook.
Twitter posted a separate confirmation to its status blog on Sunday afternoon.
“Instagram has disabled photo integration with Twitter. As a result, photos are no longer appearing in Tweets or user photo galleries. While tweeting links to Instagram photos is still possible, you can no longer view the photos on Twitter, as was previously the case.”
Twitter says the photos can still be shared from Instagram via a direct link on Twitter, but the photo is no longer visible in the Tweet.
