EL PASO — Firefighters are investigating the cause of a house fire in the Lower Valley.
Crews responded to the home on Carmelita Cir. at 3:15 p.m. Sunday. Firefighters said the fire started in a front bedroom of the home and spread to the attic.
A total of eight people were evacuated from the home, as well as two apartments in the back of the property.
Firefighters had to make a whole in the roof to allow for ventilation so they could put the fire out.
No one was injured.
The home is considered a total loss. The apartment units to the rear were not damaged.
The Red Cross of El Paso is helping all eight people with a place to live.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
