FORT BLISS — The Fort Bliss recycling program has reached the goal of $1 million of revenue from recyclables for fiscal 2012. A check presentation was made at 9a.m. Tuesday at the Centennial Banquet & Conference Center, East Fort Bliss.
The $1million program began in February 2012 and over a three month period raised $335, 000. The recycling program collected everything from paper to cardboard, plastics and aluminum, computers and other items.
The revenue generated by the recycling program is given to Morale, Welfare and Recreation to benefit the Fort Bliss community, which in turns helps Soldiers and their families.
Some projects the money may be used for include new shades for Replica Aquatic Center, spin bikes at the gyms and other equipment and playgrounds in the housing areas.
