We know Mike Price wasn't satsified with his 48 and 60 record as a coach, but what about the fans and the students who supported Price all 9 years.
After nearly a decade, it would be hard for either the fans or Price not to have strong opinions about his time there, different though they may be.
UTEP's athletic director and the students we spoke with hold the same opinion: it's time for a fresh start for Miner football.
"Ithink it's about time he's been here for a long time," said Jose Hernandez, a UTEP student. "He did have some good seasons but it's finally time for him to step down".
"Well, yeah, it's been awhile, said UTEP student Jose Torres. "He did start out pretty good, but it's getting to a point where you know, some new ideas will probably help them".
The next step is finding a new coach. The big question is, where will he come from?
Should they promote from within or find a qualified coach elsewhere?
"If you move up somebody you're still going to have the same ideas so probably bringing in somebody new to have a whole new program to help them out," Hernandez said.
"I think somebody who's been experienced with the program and who knows the players well i think those are the people they should promote," Torres said.
No matter what students think about Coach Price's stats, he'll look back on his time at UTEP as some of the best in his life.
"these fans appreciate and support UTEP in this town and have me forever," Coach Mike Price said. "It's just the best thing that's ever happened to our family to be here".
