EL PASO, TX — The Texas supreme court is removing a judge from a highly publicized case in El Paso. In August, El Paso attorneys Stuart Leeds and Theresa Caballero were found guilty of contempt of court for the behavior during a criminal trial. The two were defending Judge Regina Arditti, who was acquitted of bribery. Last month, Leeds accepted a $1,000 fine and six months probation as part of a plea deal, but Judge Bob Parks rejected the punishment, saying it wasn't enough. Leeds and his lawyer, Theresa Caballero then filed a motion to have Judge Parks removed from the case, saying his language in court proved he was prejudiced against them. The supreme court agreed and will appoint a new judge.
