EL PASO — A man accused of stabbing and killing a man has been booked on murder charges after being released from the hospital.
Police said Wayne Mitchell, 44, got into an argument with Debra Buchanan, 52, the night of October 7, 2012.
They said Mitchell stabbed Buchanan and Marshall Dorris, 58, who tried to defend Buchanan. Dorris later died at a hospital. Buchanan is listed in critical, but stable condition.
According to police, Mitchell fled the scene and called Bernadette Rivera, 44, for a ride.
After Rivera picked him up, they say Mitchell stabbed Rivera and continued to fight with her until she jumped from the car.
Mitchell was arrested a few hours later.
He was taken to University Medical Center for self-inflicted injuries and released Friday night.
Mitchell was charged with murder, criminal attempt murder, aggravated robbery and evading arrest or detention.
