The trial continued Wednesday morning against Yara Perez, the woman accused of killing her 3 year-old daughter Jacqueline in 2007.
Jurors watched a 50-minute interview with Yara Perez and Detective Erik Messer the night Jacqueline was found dead. Perez told the detective her boyfriend, Francisco Casteñeda watched the little girl.
That night she noticed Jacqueline was not eating and consitpated. Perez said the little girl was lying on the couch when she stopped breathing, but she did not call 911 out of fear of Castañeda.
She also said Castañeda beat her two weeks before Jacqueline's death. While on the stand, Detective Messer said he overheard Perez tell Castañeda to quote "tell us the truth."
He said Castañeda shook his head no. He was given a life sentence for the girl's death.
The trial was set to continue Thursday.
