EL PASO — A prison break in far east El Paso led to a car accident Monday night.
Three inmates from the Hudspeth County Jail overpowered detention officers, took their keys and stole an officer'sFord Mustang.
They were driving westbound on I-10 towards El Paso County when a chase with Border Patrol, DPS and Hudspeth Sheriff's deputies ensued.
DPS laid down spike strips inside of El Paso county, which helped stop the inmates. A Hudspeth deputy diverting traffic was hurt however, as her truck was rear-ended by another tractor trailer.
She was treated and released from Del Sol for a shoulder injury.The three inmates were arrested, and their names are not being released at this time.
