Supporters of Triple-A Baseball in El Paso will join together at a rally Monday evening at Cleveland Square Park, Downtown. The event will take place the day before a critical vote by City Council to give final approval on a Term Sheet with MountainStar Sports Group, the group seeking to purchase a Triple-A Baseball team and relocate it to El Paso.
“There are so many people who have reached out to us and expressed their excitement and support for Triple-A Baseball in El Paso. This rally will provide a venue for us to thank them, and for them to show that they back this opportunity,” said Josh Hunt, a member of MountainStar Sports Group, along with his father Woody Hunt and Paul and Alejandra Foster.
“It is critical to show the Mayor and our City Council Representatives that so many El Pasoans want Triple-A Baseball and a downtown ballpark. They want affordable, family-friendly entertainment right in the heart of our city, and they want to watch games with players who are within a step of Major League,” added Hunt. “No matter how the vote turns out Tuesday, at this rally we want to thank those who have supported El Paso Triple-A Baseball and whatever happens, we want to encourage El Pasoans to vote for all of the 2012 Quality of Life Bond Issues.”
People who attend the rally will receive a free ticket to an early-season home game – if El Paso gets a Triple-A team. Everyone will also receive a t-shirt and a chance to win prizes including season tickets to El Paso's first Triple-A Baseball season, pending a positive vote. The rally will feature food provided by Kipp’s Cheesesteak, refreshments, guest speakers, and music. Free parking is available in the St. Regis Parking Garage across the street from Cleveland Square.
The rally will take place at Cleveland Square Park at 510 N. Santa Fe on Monday, September 17, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. For more information, please call (915) 544-9400 or visit www.loveelpasotriplea.com .
