EL PASO — Beginning Monday, Aug. 27, Sun Metro’s Route 70 University Express once again will begin operating from the Eastside Terminal, 1165 Sunmount, to the UTEP and El Paso Community College Rio Grande campus area.
University Express will operate from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday with services offered every 30 minutes during peak hours (6-10 a.m. and 1-5 p.m.) and every hour during non-peak hours.
Students and traditional passengers looking for an alternative itinerary also can board Route 59 Eastside Connector at the Eastside Terminal and transfer onto Route 204 at Bay 15 at the Downtown Transfer Center.
UTEP and EPCC students looking to save money and be environmentally conscious can purchase weekly or monthly passes that are good for an unlimited number of bus trips during the life of the pass.
Currently, student weekly passes are $7 and monthly passes cost $30. A valid school ID is required. Standard monthly passes are $48 and senior/disabled passes are $10.
Monthly passes can be purchased at the Eastside Terminal, the Union Plaza Transit Terminal, any of the city’s public libraries or by mail. The weekly passes can be purchased on each Sun Metro bus. Pre-paid passes can be used on any fixed-route bus, except Routes 83 and 84.
UTEP students are reminded that there is a new Miner Gold Card. Students wishing to receive the reduced student fare must have the new ID card on or before November 1, 2012.
