EL PASO — El Paso City Council planned on discussing three actions involving the proposed Quality of Life Bond Initiative. The bond aims at improving and constructing new amenities for various facilities including parks and recreation facilities, libraries, museums, cultural and performing arts facilities, the Zoo and more.
The actions to be discussed included a call for the bond election, an increase in the hotel occupancy tax and a Bond Overview Advisory Committee.
In regards to the bond election, city officials said it would take place on November 6.
The call for an increase in hotel occupancy tax is requested for hotels located within the city at a maximum rate of twp percent. Councilmembers will also discuss authorizing the City of El Paso to provide for the planning, acquisition, establishment, development, construction and financing of a sports/community venue project.
In calling for a Bond Overview Advisory Committee consisting of interested citizens tasked with reviewing bond issue projects and providing oversight and feedback to City Council and staff.
