EL PASO - President Obama's new immigration plan is expected to impact about 800,000 immigrants.
But, there are possibly thousands more who are affected, but they won't be the ones getting work permits.
Some UTEP students are not feeling the relief the 800,000 other immigrants are.
Laura Espino has lived in the U.S. for the past 7 years, but she's not eligible for this plan. She moved here when she was 18. Under this new plan, she misses the cutoff by 2 years.
"I think its great for the people that are 16, but I think it's kind of unfair to the people who came here when they're18...like me," Espino said.
"I've been here for 7 years and I'm kind of used to living here. I want to be here and I've been a good person and an excellent student".
Here are the requirements for the plan:
Immigrants must be younger than 30
Must have moved to U.S. before the age of 16
Lived in the U.S. for 5 years straight
No criminal record
Must be a student, graduate or served in the military
