EL PASO — County Commissioners Court is extending the fireworks ban for at least another seven days. You can’t buy them, can’t use them, can’t even have them inside El Paso County.
County judge Veronica Escobar says the drought makes fireworks too risky.
The Sheriff's Office and Fire Department say when they go to check out a fireworks violation it takes them away from bigger emergencies and that also seemed to convince Judge Escobar.
The El Paso County Fire Department says fireworks ban last summer helped reduce the number of fire calls throughout the county.
