El Paso could be home to two big appearances by boxers and MMA fighters. On Friday, July 29, 6-time World Champion boxer Julio Cesar Chavez will be a welcomed guest at Fort Bliss to sign autographs. Ft. Bliss officials told Local 4 sports that he will likely be available between 3-5:00pm on the base.
Former MMA champ Ken Shamrock could face former boxer James Toney in El Paso, though a date has not been finalized, or a location. A date the two are looking at is September 29th, but the Haskins Center nor the Coliseum have been contacted about hosting the MMA bout.
