Wildfire continues to burn in New Mexico

In New Mexico, the Thompson Ridge fire continues to burn.

It is located on the Valles Caldera National Preserve about two miles northeast of La Cueva, New Mexico.

The fire is in steep rugged terrain and is burning mixed conifer and ponderosa pine.

The Arizona Central West Zone Incident Management Team assumed management responsibility for the fire on Sunday, June 2, 2013.

So far, more than 10,000 acres have been consumed by the blaze north of Jemez Springs.

This fire is only 5% contained.

This fire began May 31st because of downed power lines.
