Virgin Galactic makes first rent payment

Thursday, January 10, 2013 - 22:06

Virgin Galactic is about to make its first ever rent payment to Spaceport America. Virgin Galactic is a commercial spaceflight company that plans on taking passengers into space as early as December of this year.

The company is renting space at the New Mexico Spaceport Authority which is located just outside of Las Cruces. The company will pay $85,833 a month in rent for use of Spaceport's facilities and another $2500 a month in rent for land.

The payment comes after Virgin Galactic recently announced it will likely leave New Mexico if a bill that would prevent lawsuits against space flight parts manufacturers fails once again in the legislature.
