San Elizario, Texas (KDBC) — Officials in Vinton and in the Socorro/San Eli area say their roads are flooded and impassable.
The El Paso County Sheriff's office says the steady rain and runoff have made all roads south of Socorro Road in the Lower Valley impassable.
Across the borderland in Vinton, village officials say most of their residential roads are equally flooded.
Chris Acosta, Public Affairs Director for the sheriff's office adds, "We are asking drivers to take alternative routes...please avoid water crossings, under passes and other areas that are prompt to flooding such as arroyos."
EPSO officials say that two families have asked to be transported shelters in the area, there have not been any reported injuries as a result of the widespread flooding.
Residents are asked to call 915-872-3989 if they need assistance with shelter or need any other information.
Additionally, the Lower Valley Water District is providing 2 vacuum trucks to clear the crosswalks for the children when they are released from school.
