EL PASO (KDBC) — The University of Texas at El Paso was breaking records this school year.
UTEP said enrollment is up to 23,000. Last year, it was nearly 22,750.
This is the 15th straight year UTEP has broken its fall semester enrollment record.
UTEP leaders said it's all thanks to help from the community.
"For several years now, UTEP has worked with El Paso Community College and the school districts to promote a college growing culture here in El Paso and all of our partners have been working very hard to make sure students understand that a higher education is important and that it is possible," said Gary Edens with UTEP Student Affairs.
The number of new undergraduate students, including first-time and transfer students, increased by 6.4 percent.
