UTEP alerts students to possible threat, spurs immediate evacuation

EL PASO — The University of Texas at El Paso announced a warning via email and social media Tuesday, prompting an immediate evacuation of the campus.

Their first Tweet read: "MINER ALERT: A possible threat has been identified inside UTEP CAMPUS. We ask that you EVACUATE the premises now."

Administrative operations and classes for this evening were cancelled, and normal operating hours were expected to resume on Wednesday.
