EL PASO — A U.S. Army officer from El Paso pleaded guilty to accepting thousands of dollars in illegal gratuities during a deployment to Iraq.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Major Christopher Grant Bradley was deployed to Iraq in 2008, and during that time he admitted to accepting $20,000 in cash from an Iraqi contractor.

Bradley also reportedly escorted the contractor around the base and helped the contractor's trucks enter the base without following security procedures, which officials said saved the contractor time and money.

Bradley faces 6 months to a year in federal prison. He has also agreed to pay back $20,000 in restitution.

A date for the sentencing hearing has not been set.
