El Paso, TX (KDBC) — UPDATE: Power has been restored to El Paso Electric customers in the Lower Valley.
According to an El Paso Electric Spokesperson, a bird landed one a breaker at the substation near Ascarate Park.
According to the El Paso Electric Outage Map, more than 6,000 customers in the Lower Valley are experiencing a power outage.
According to a spokesperson, power flickered on and off along a transmission line from the Lower Valley to West El Paso Saturday afternoon, but did not cause a permanent power outage. However, a separate problem at a substation near Ascarate Park left 6,063 customers without electricity.
The cause of the outage is unknown, but crews are working on repairs. They do not have an estimated time for power to be restored.
