El Paso, TX (KDBC) — El Paso Police Department has identified 53-year-old Jesus Robles as the driver who crashed into a marked police vehicle on Thursday evening.
Robles, who was driving a silver 1999 Ford Mustang is still listed in critical condition after crashing into an El Paso Police cruiser conducting a traffic stop on the 8100 block of Gateway East at approximately 11:28 p.m. Thursday night.
The officer, who was outside of the police cruiser, observed a Robles' vehicle traveling along Gateway East heading towards their location. The officer ran away from the area in time to avoid being struck by the vehicle.
The officer found Robles to be unresponsive and determined that he had no pulse and initiated CPR. Robles was transported to an area hospital for treatment and is still listed in critical condition.
At the time, police say the cause of the accident is still under investigation and preliminary information indicates that Robles was not wearing a seatbelt. No other injuries were reported and the case remains open with no charges filed at this time.
