EL PASO - With football season in full swing, the Texas Department of Transportation wants to get the word out: don't drink and drive.

According to recent studies, football game days are among the heaviest days for alcohol consumption. To show just how important it is to have a safe ride home after drinking, TxDOT brought a virtual living room truck to UTEP; it's a glassed-in truck that features a game day living room scene with 2-D cutouts.

"Football season is one of those seasons where people seem to consume a little bit more alcohol and therefore, they already have the ability not to pass out the keys when they're supposed to. We hope that this measure drives home to those who see it,” said Ryan Holmes, with UTEP's Office of Student Life.

TxDOT said last year, there were over 25,000 alcohol-related crashes across the state.
