WINNIE, TX - Two buses were detained Wednesday afternoon in Winnie after questions were raised about some people's legal status.

Chambers County Sheriff Joe Larive says this is the biggest immigration bust since he took office.

The men were returning to Southeast Texas after more than a month of working in the Midwest. 42 suspected illegal immigrants were loaded onto a Department of Homeland Security bus and taken to a federal detention center in Houston . Several of the men ran away when deputies went to check out the buses. Sheriff Larive says the buses were chartered by a businessman to take the men to Michigan for work.

One of the passengers was arrested for possession of marijuana.
