El Paso, Texas (KDBC) — Two undocumented immigrants from Central America have tested positive for tuberculosis in El Paso. That's according to a spokesperson with the local border patrol union.
The union says one of the immigrants is an adult woman from Guatemala. She reportedly has an active strain of TB, which is very contagious. Details about the other patients are unknown.
Agents who came in contact with the two immigrants are now being tested and monitored.
TB is a bacterial infection that can spread to any organ in the body, but is most commonly found in the lungs.
