EL PASO — The key to a guilt-free Thanksgiving for hundreds of people was an early morning run.
The 36th Annual Turkey Trot got underway on schedule at 7:30 am.
It started at the corner of Montana and Virginia and included a 5k competitive run, 3k fun walk, and a kids 1 mile run.
For many like Alex De La Cruz, this has become a family tradition.

"Yeah this is like a family thing you know because I came over here and we all get together," said Alex DelaCrux. "I got all my brothers here, not just myself and my son... it's all my brothers."
Money raised in the turkey trot will go to the YMCA Strong Kids campaign.
