WASHINGTON, D.C. — Tuition assistance will be available for military members, at least through the end of the 2013 fiscal year.
The bill, introduced by Congressman Beto O'Rourke and others Monday, was included in a Congressional resolution Thursday that passed both the House and Senate.
The Dept. of Defense earlier this month suspended the program due to the sequester.
The program has helped service members earn more than 50,000 degrees, diplomas and certificates.
But O'Rourke said their work's not done.
"Despite today's achievement, we will continue to work hard to ensure that funding for military tuition assistance is preserved beyond the 2013 fiscal year," he said.
