The Tornillo Independent School District is one step closer to having a new leader.
Thursday night, the school board selected Jeannie Meza-Chavez as their sole finalist for the job. She currently works at EPISD as the district's Director of Secondary Personnel and Recruiting.
The district has been without a permanent superintendent since November 2012 when former superintendent Paul Vranish was placed on leave after a Texas Education Agency audit showed questionable expenditures were being made by Vranish.
The school board has to wait 21 days before a final decision can be made.
