Today (Thursday) marks the eight year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. The deadly storm forever changed New Orleans when it made landfall and left more than 15-hundred dead and some 200-thousand homes damaged.
The storm displaced millions of people in the Gulf region. It is considered the costliest disaster in the history of the Global Insurance Industry.
The federal government has spent 120-point-5 billion-dollars on the Gulf region, post-Katrina. The majority of that money, 75 billion, went to emergency relief operations.
