Austin, TX (KDBC) — The Texas Senate passed a controversial Wednesday that would require welfare applicants to undergo a drug test. The legislation passed on a unanimous 31-0 vote and now moves on to the House.
Not all applicants would be tested, but all would be required to undergo a screening assessment to determine drug use. Under the bill, anyone that fails a drug test three times would be permanently cut off for assistance.
