San Antonio, TX (CNN) — A malfunctioning escalator is to blame for Wednesday's problem at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio.
Convention spokeswoman Andrea Delaune says the victims were hurt when an escalator abruptly stopped and went in reverse.
At least 10-people were on or near the escalator at the time.A witness said one person might have been trampled in the commotion. The attendees were in the middle of a lunch break when the incident took place.
"There have been some injuries. Several people have received medical attention on site. Ten people were transported," said Delaune.
Maintenance workers say they've had problems with the escalators before.
