EL PASO — The El Paso Independent School District went door-to-door in search of drop-out students.
Every year since 2008, members of the district's Alpha Team go looking for to let them know they aren't forgotten, and attempt in helping them back into the classroom.
According to the district, about 85 percent of students contacted do return to class.
"We get out to the homes, we identify where the homes are and we talk to the student out in the field," said Mark Mendoza of Team Alpha. "If the student can't be found we talk to neighbors, to associates. We find these students however possible."
More than 30 percent of El Paso students do not graduate high school.
