Tanker leaks fuel in Northwest

EL PASO — A Western Refining tanker truck delivering diesel fuel to a northwest El Paso gas station scraped bottom as it entered the station and began leaking about 25 gallons of fuel from its load.

The accident happened Sunday afternoon at North Desert and Transmountain Road.

Emergency crews responded and as a precaution police evacuated some nearby businesses, also closing the service station. A firefighter told us that while not as flammable as gasoline, diesel is combustible and can pose a great danger.

Late Sunday night fire crews were still at the scene.  No one is hurt.
