El Paso, TX (KDBC) — El Paso firefighters are investigating a fire they believe is suspicious.
The fire broke out at EPISD's Supply facility located at 4900 Woodrow Bean Transmountain Rd in Northeast El Paso around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Fire officials tell us that four EPISD supply trucks parked near the loading area were on fire. The trucks were empty at the time of the blaze. Fire crews were able to control the blaze within 20 minutes, and were able to contain the fire to the trucks. The building had some smoke damage but no fire damage.
Firefighters at the scene told us the blaze is being called suspicious because a lock on a fence around the facility had been cut. Fire officials are now investigating, damages to the four trucks is estimated to be $120,000.
El Paso Fire Department is being assisted by El Paso Independent School District Police. EPISD also confirmed that The Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) was also there at the scene, but they do not anticipate the ATF to assist any further in the investigation.
