Several law enforcement agencies joined forces Saturday morning to search for a wanted suspect in West El Paso.

It started as a traffic stop on I-10 near Executive Center Blvd. at 6:58 a.m. The Texas Department of Public Safety officer ran the driver's name and determined the man had several outstanding warrants.

The trooper then tried taking the suspect into custody, but the man got away and ran into a nearby desert area.

U.S. Border Patrol agents helped search the desert area on the ground, while a Customs and Border Protection helicopter searched from the air.

The suspect was last seen on Mesa and Executive near the Montecillo Apartments.

Investigators said the man was bald, wearing a black shirt and several tattoos.
