A new study suggests that although milk is a great source of vitamin D and calcium for kids, it should be consumed in moderation.
The study of more than 1300 children between the ages of 2 and 5 finds cow's milk can decrease kids' iron levels. However, researchers say two cups a day is sufficient to boost vitamin D and other nutrients in most children, with a minimum impact on iron levels stored in the body.
Cow's milk has components that can block the absorption of iron in young children.
