A study by the Pew Hispanic Center shows a decrease in the amount of illegal border crossings in recent years.
The study shows that the average annual flow of undocumented immigrants across the United States' borders was 300,000 people from March 2007 to 2009, compared to an annual flow of 550,000 from March 2005 to 2007.
Their numbers also show an 8% decrease in the total number of undocumented immigrants living in the United States since March 2007.
It may sound hard to believe, but Border Patrol also says crossings have been down in the El Paso sector. They attribute the decline to an increase in agents, improved technology such as cameras, and fencing along the border.
