EL PASO — The El Paso Police Department in partnership with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office will be hosting the Second Citizen Police Academy for Spanish speakers. The Academy starts on September 5th and ends on November 14th. The classes will be held on Wednesdays from 6p.m. to 9p.m. Anyone who's interested can call the El Paso Police Department Coordinator at 680-6546 by Monday, August 20th 2012 or have a completed application turned into El Paso Police Headquarters by Thursday August 23rd at 5p.m. The El Paso County Sheriff's Office and the El Paso Police Department wants to inform citizens on how the law enforcement agencies work and gives a general overview the two agencies. The classes include a ride along, presentations and demonstrations from various units, including S.W.A.T. and a tour of one of the detention facilities. Applications for these academies can be picked up at El Paso Police Headquarters or the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.
