Wednesday, March 27, 2013 - 1:19pm

Nearly one in four hispanic adults in New Mexico smoke.  According to New Mexico's Department of Health, tobacco use is the leading cause of preventable death in the land of enchantment. In order to help curb the number of smokers in the state, the New Mexico Department of Health is giving smokers a helping hand. The department has launched a help line exclusively for spanish speakers. Callers can dial 1-855-DEJALO-YA or 1-855-335-35692 and will be instantly greeted by a coach, who will talk to the caller about kicking the unhealthy habit. There is also a website smokers can visit: www.dejeloyanm.com.
