Spaceport America back on track after lawmakers reach agreement

Tuesday, January 22, 2013 - 11:42pm

New Mexico Legislators announced an agreement with Spaceport America that puts the multi million dollar project back on track to take off.
The informed consent legislation will protect companies at Spaceport from damage lawsuits by passengers.
Spaceport's largest tenant, Virgin Galactic, threatened to moved out of the $200 Million facility if lawmakers did not vote to change legislation that limited liability for other space travel companies.
Senate President Pro Tem Mary Kay Papen of Las Cruces has been working on this legislation since last year, “I am very happy that we can move this issue forward and begin a clear path to getting the Spaceport up and running, many people in southern New Mexico, as well as the rest of the state, are excited to see this get going.”
