LAS CRUCES, N.M. — The 46th Annual Southern New Mexico State Fair and Rodeo kicked off Wednesday at the Southern New Mexico Fairgrounds just outside Las Cruces.
Like every year, the fair feature plenty of entertainment options ranging from livestock exhibitions to carnival rides.
"We have different shows at different times," said Southern New Mexico State Fair and Rodeo President Mark Halvorsen. "That way you can at least catch all the shows."
The fair will be bringing in hypnotists and magicians as well as one of the main attractions, a lumberjack show.
There are livestock exhibitions daily where youngsters get to display the animals they work so hard all year to raise.
"We had her since she was little and we kind of watched her grow up and I worked with them a lot," said Celeste Garcia about her prize winning goat Sweetie.
The fair runs through Sunday afternoon with gates opening at 8am daily and closing at 10pm Wednesday and Thursday and midnight Friday and Saturday.
