Washington, D.C. (CNN) — Furloughs are ending for U.S. Park police. The National Park Service released a statement saying it saved enough money to end the furloughs early. The park service director says the savings came from three days of furloughs already taken and cost-cutting measures.
The furloughs of park police staff and officers are scheduled to end June 1st. They were put in place in response to forced federal spending cuts that started taking effect in March.
