Socorro, Texas (KDBC) — Socorro residents are suing the city over summer flooding, seeking at least $200,000 in damages.
Thirty Socorro residents, represented by Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid, are arguing that structures built to prevent flooding in the Valley Ridge subdivision redirected rains to older homes in the area, leaving them with feet of water and mud when the rains hit.
Several of the homes have not been repaired and residents say city officials have ignored their cries for help.
Mayor Jesus Ruiz says the city attorney is reviewing the lawsuit.
