Socorro, TX (KDBC) — Following last week's torrential rain, many homes in Socorro are under several feet of dirt. Socorro High School administrators say students and their families are living in an emergency shelter set up by the Red Cross at Socorro High School. However, that shelter will close Monday and many families still do not have access to their homes.
Socorro High School Social Worker, Marisela Rodriguez and Assistant Principal Mr. Garcia, are asking volunteers with heavy machinery, tractors and wheel barrels to help remove the mud and water.
Dozens of volunteers donated their time throughout the weekend using shovels, but it is not enough to remove the mud.
If you can help, contact Marisela Rodriguez at 915-920-6771 or Assistant Principal Garcia at 915-433-3728.
